Outside of the city neither of these two people have much pulling power.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1211178771703524664.post-23803883315899680612008-03-19T20:31:00.000-07:002008-03-19T20:31:00.000-07:00I think some of your points regarding the CBC docu...I think some of your points regarding the CBC documentary were valid and should be a part of any balanced message.

Although it sounds as if the documentary you saw was lacking in this area, I don't think however that the entire CBC should be flamed as a consequence.

The CBC presents many great artists and points of view from Alberta, Quebéc, etc...

Some broadcasts will naturally be better than others but their promotion of Canadian content is meaningful and I think our nation would be worse off without the CBC.

Perhaps the provincial AB government could work more with the CBC to ensure that a specific percentage of AB views will also recieve CBC funding, support, and airtime. The Business Studenthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03964870637828663759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1211178771703524664.post-57345471944067998772008-03-19T21:26:00.000-07:002008-03-19T21:26:00.000-07:00RE Documentary: I saw the CBC propaganda piece as ...RE Documentary: I saw the CBC propaganda piece as well. Someone needs to make news out of the fact that Taylor/Campbell's new economy-crushing carbon tax is about to make BC the last place an energy investor would ever want to consider parking their money.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1211178771703524664.post-8798802296516127972008-03-20T20:00:00.000-07:002008-03-20T20:00:00.000-07:00Once again the CBC broadcasts another unbalanced h...Once again the CBC broadcasts another unbalanced hatchet job to fit the premise of the film maker's thesis. The documentary refered to American oil companies in the tar sands. Let me see, in the minable major producing area there is Suncor (CDN), CNRL (CDN), Shell/Albian and Shell/Jackpine (Dutch, but formerly CDN with partners Western Oil Sands Inc {CDN} and Cheveron Canada Ltd {CDN}), Total/Deer Creek (French but formerly CDN) Syncrude (a consortium that is majority CDN, minority USA).

By my accounting, the companies belong to the Canucks then the Europeans come along and buy them out, with the Yankees once again missing the boat. God forbit there should ever be an economic slowdown in Alberta...

Also, I liked what someone had to say about the skewed documentary on CBC. Perhaps it wasn't always balanced, but it did make some very valid points and the bit about Norway keeping it's oil royalties out of the economy actually made alot of sense. Oh, and it seems to me that having a state owned oil company in a private market ensures some market share for citizens and makes resources more secure.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
